"Artful Dodgers" is the twenty-second episode in the first season of Teen Titans Go!, and the twenty-second episode overall. It first aired on August 27th, 2013.

Logline

The Titans confidently expect to win an upcoming dodgeball championship, even though the only thing they ever practice is their victory dance. Then they come up against an unbeatable dodge ball team — the H.I.V.E..[1]

Synopsis

At the Jump City Museum, a wall explodes revealing the H.I.V.E. Five. Jinx whistles while playing with the artifact they stole until Robin appears demanding her to return it to the museum in exchange for an easy defeat. The witch tells Robin he can try to take it from her while Gizmo reveals they tied the citizens in the museum to a bomb rigged to explode in a minute. The rest of the Titans don't view this as fair, but Gizmo states it's not supposed to be fair. Jinx orders Gizmo to cloak them which he does with a ray that makes the H.I.V.E. Five disappear. Cyborg uses his robotic eye to locate them to Raven who causes them to appear with her powers. Robin ties the villainous team with a wire while Starfire disarms the bomb and Cyborg retrieves the artifact. Robin gloats to Jinx that they won because cheaters never do while Beast Boy supports .

Back at the Tower, Robin congratulates the Titans on their victory, but states they cannot rest as another important matter is at hand. Cyborg and Beast Boy eagerly announce that the Dodgeball League is about to start again, and they have to defend their status as champions. Starfire wonders if Robin would let her and Raven participate in this year's tournament, but Robin nervously lies by telling her the game is too complex and she isn't ready. Raven counters by stating that you hit someone in the face with a ball and then hit another person the same way which Beast Boy declares makes it the perfect game.

Cyborg then asks if anyone would like to see the new uniforms which all the Titans approve and declares that Team Titans will win before wondering who came up with that awesome name. Robin answers that he did while Raven sarcastically remarks that her mind has been blown due to Robin replacing Teen with Team. The male Titans then agree to practice their victory dance while Raven suggests that they should prepare for the game, but they claim they're going to win due to their status as champions.

At the stadium, Robin, Cyborg, and Beast Boy prepare for the game when Robin claims that the competitors will be easy to beat like last year. In a flashback, the male Titans brutally defeat a team of small children. Raven then states that if the opposing teams are easy to defeat, she and Starfire should be able to play, but the others state they know why the two aren't allowed to. In flashbacks, Raven is hit by a dodgeball and she transforms into a demon which sucks the opposing team into her mouth while Starfire eats a dodgeball.

Robin and Cyborg claim that the two are their secret weapons only to be unleashed once they face a team they can't beat. Raven calls their bluff by stating they have no intention of letting them play which the males admit to. However, Robin tells the two they can help by singing the theme song. The Team Titans enter the court when they are announced where Raven and Starfire sing the theme song. Robin and Cyborg compliment them on their performance when the announcer reveals the opposing team as the H.I.V.E. Five with Jinx, Gizmo, and Mammoth at the starting line and See-More and Billy Numerous benched.

Raven begins to ask how the H.I.V.E. Five broke out of prison, but Robin interrupts by wanting to know where they got the fireworks for their introduction. Jinx tells the male Titans they're about to be defeated but they respond with the promise that their taking them down dodgeball style. The game begins with the H.I.V.E. Five reaching the balls first and defeating the Team Titans in a matter of seconds. The H.I.V.E. Five then perform a victory dace which Cyborg proclaims is better than theirs.

Titans challenge the H.I.V.E. to a rematch

Later, the H.I.V.E. Five are robbing the Jump City Bank when they are confronted by the Titans who don't want to stop them, but play a game of dodgeball. Starfire and Raven wonder if they could participate, but Cyborg benches them. Jinx agrees to the rematch, and the H.I.V.E. Five defeat the male Titans in a matter of seconds. At the Tower, Robin wonders how they could be defeated and Raven tells them they should be practicing, but the male Titans state they don't feel like it and that it sounds like a lot of work. Robin then declares that they have to win by any means necessary even if resorts to cheating by using their powers. Starfire and Raven are against this, but give in upon learning they could play.

The Team Titans then defeat Doctor Light's and Cinderblock's teams by using Raven's powers and Robin's weapons. The finals then arrive with the Team Titans competing against the H.I.V.E. Five. The game starts and Beast Boy grabs all the balls as a snake which he later gives to Starfire who charges them with her powers before throwing them at Jinx, Gizmo, and Mammoth. Mammoth grabs one of the balls, but Raven opens a portal under his feet causing him to reappear in the sky and collapse. Cyborg shoots dodgeballs from his robotic arm until Jinx reveals that they're cheating. The Titans then state that the trio are going down dodgeball style until they are defeated in a matter of seconds.

The H.I.V.E. Five celebrate their victory while Cyborg and Beast Boy mourn their lost. Robin makes a phone call to the Jump City Police Department which arrive and arrest the H.I.V.E. Five before giving the trophy to the Team Titans. The team then celebrate their win by default with a victory dance.
